Visit France
Overview :
France extends from the North Sea and English Channel south to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the Rhine, west to the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most visited countries in the world with more than 82 million foreign tourists each year mostly for its cultural heritage and world famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower but also for the up market French Riviera and other areas like the Loire valley with its Chateaux, as well as numerous historic towns and cities.
Climate :
There are three distinct climates found in France: continental, Mediterranean and oceanic. Each comes with its own distinctive set of characteristics. The western part of the nation is subject to the oceanic climate and experiences lots of rainfall, cool summers, mild winters and a small temperature range. The continental climate is found over the central and eastern part of France and consists of warm summer and cold winters with plenty of rain and snow in the higher elevations. The south of France sees the Mediterranean climate with hot summers, cool winters and only limited rainfall. Overall, France sees light to moderate rainfall in the central and southern portions while the heaviest rain comes down in the northern regions and the mountains.
Transportation :
Getting around France is possible mainly by flights, trains and cars. Several domestic carriers connect the different cities of France, making it the most convenient way of travel. However, chances are that flight travel could be expensive.
Trains are the best way to travel across France, as the train network connects all parts of France with each other. There are different types of high speed as well as normal trains available on different routes along with each train offering two main classes for booking tickets. All trains in France are run by the SNCF (www.sncf.com), which also include the TGV (www.tgv.com) or the high speed trains. Bus transport is limited to certain areas and hence not very popular. Checking out the availability of buses before opting for this mode of transport is advisable.
Given that France has well maintained and well connected highways, renting a car and driving around is a great way to experience the country. Always keep your entrance ticket safe; else, you will be charged for the longest route
